We’ve noticed that across the country whenever an HOA issue is covered by the news, the accusation is typically that the board has not communicated about the project, the price, the timing, or whatever the case may be. And whether that’s true or not, it’s rare that we get to see the board’s side of the story.
Here, however, is a story about the “Field of Dreams” HOA near Salt Lake City, Utah, which is managed by Habitat for Humanity. A rise in HOA fees has residents in a lather, and there are clear accusations that the fees weren’t communicated and “no one knows what’s going on.” Sound familiar?
However, Habitat For Humanity reports that they have clearly communicated the fees. Upwards of 40 times (?). Also familiar?
It would also appear that some homeowners feel like they were not consulted in the decisions that were being made. As we all know, the board of an HOA is elected to make said decisions, but engagement and communications are two essential ingredients when it comes to any rollout of a decision.
So who’s to blame here? Take a look and you decide.
