From the Foundation for Community Association Research comes a study that was conducted last year with a variety of data that shows some positivity. The link I have provided takes you to a video that they produced, and unfortunately it doesn’t go into profound detail. But I did capture most of their points so you don’t have to watch the video.
If you want to watch the whole thing, it’s HERE.
- More than 75 million Americans live in HOAs
- There are 369,000 HOAs in the USA
- Value of all homes in HOA: $12.9 trillion
- 86% of HOA residents rate their experience as positive
- 94% of HOA residents report that they “get along with their neighbors”
- 82% of residents say that their boards serve “in their best interests”
- Another 82% say they are on “good terms” with their boards
- 62% of those surveyed indicate they attend board meetings (no word on frequency here)
- 63% of residents indicate they would attend “more frequently” with remote options
- 83% indicate a positive relationship with their HOA’s property manager
- 49% say their “assessments” are “about right.” (Not sure how they define assessments. Do they mean monthly fee here?)
- 36% find their assessments “too high”
