By now you know we scrape the web for interesting, compelling or downright odd stories about HOAs across the country. Here’s one that barely rises above the fold: A Greensboro, North Carolina condominium HOA that apparently has gone to seed due to lack of board oversight.
From Fox 8 in North Carolina:
At Bramblegate Condominiums, homeowners say their community has deteriorated, and their requests for help are going nowhere. What was once a place of peace for them is now a source of daily frustration.
So Bramblegate is the new Watergate. Sounds like from the residents who live there, the board has not addressed a bad parking lot, a broken pool and some damage from a fire, among other things. Says one resident:
“I think for $250 a month that we’re paying every month with 250 units in here, there should be ample money for us to have any kind of repairs or maintenance that we request done.”
“While the property is governed by a Homeowners Association (HOA), this does not impact the City’s ability to enforce code violations. The HOA is responsible for maintaining the common areas; however, Code Compliance may still investigate violations on the property, including within individual units. It’s important to note that the condominium units at Bramblegate are individually owned, and some are likely rented out. Because of this, we occasionally receive complaints involving specific units rather than the entire complex.”
Yup it’s a mess. Read the story HERE.
