It’s been a year now that the Minnesota Ombudsperson Office for HOAs was made effective by state law following last year’s (2025) legislative session. In that time, the much ballyhooed first Ombudsman has been meritoriously dismissed, and we’ve been coasting in that office ever since. They’ve been looking for a replacement, a new Mr. or Mrs. O.

As of this morning, I again reached out to the interim Ombudsman, Dan Bryden, who took my call earlier this summer and promised a download of the “trackable data” that the office purports to monitor by law. It’s been crickets ever since, so hopefully we get something so we understand some of the issues coming through that taxpayer funded office.  (The official website lists Track and review complaints to identify issues and trends as an objective.)
