During HOA Day on Saturday, we hammered on the theme of “positive change” in 2027. We’ve all been through a year of tremendous change, and with the 2027 SF 1750 legislation set to become effective at the turn of the new year, HOA leaders are faced with even more change, whether they like it or not.
Why not make it a net positive? I asked everyone who attended our annual event to list one thing that they intend to change in 2027 to make a positive dent in their board, their association or in their leadership abilities. Given the limits on time during HOA Day I could only feature a few of them during the program, but I thought I would feature the full list below. I haven’t edited (well, not much anyway).

Begin unit inspections spotting safety concerns

Complete a reserve study.
Have a better financial plan for our HOA.
Set up financial “guardrails” to include having 2-3 review bank statements and line them up with the financial statements. Also having the financials and the bank statements (with account numbers blanked out) on our member portal.

Recruit board members who want to do the work and not just have opinions
Attend more HOA Leadership Network chapter meetings.
