More than 200 board members, HOA residents and other interested parties descended on St. Paul on Wednesday in opposition to HOA Reform Legislation that is going through the state legislature. As elected officials scramble to make necessary changes to the bills that would affect every HOA in Minnesota, the very people who will be affected by their actions showed up en masse to voice opposition. We had 10 speakers, mostly homeowners, who stood up to speak in opposition to this unnecessary legislation.
We were informed late last night that Amendments to SF 1750 have been published, so it remains to be seen what changes have been made in the Senate bill. A full hearing is scheduled on Friday for the revised bill, so it will be TV worth watching.
We received a variety of press from the event (links below). Generally good coverage with a TV story from Channel 5 and longer feature story in the Star Tribune.
Lynn and I were incredibly encouraged by what we saw. The rally proves that our network is full of well education and caring people who want education over legislation. Thanks to everyone who made the journey. Special thanks to Finn Jacobsen (SJJ Law), Jake Christenson (Row Cal) for pulling this all together.
Now we wait and see. — Mark Foster
