In an interesting twist of fate, the city of Minnetrista is apparently pushing back against proposed HOA legislation.  Its City Council approved a resolution in late April to oppose House and Senate bills that propose reforms to homeowner associations and common interest communities. The resolution comes after the council’s earlier opposition to other state housing bills this legislative session, which were shared in a joint letter with other Lake Minnetonka communities to Senator Ann Johnson Stewart (DFL), raising concerns about the potential loss of local control.

According to the city administrator, there are several reasons for the push back:

Jasper Kruggel, city administrator, outlined several reasons for the city’s opposition. He explained that state-level mandates for HOA disclosures and dispute resolution could place an increased administrative burden on city staff, potentially straining already limited municipal resources. He also noted that the bills impose uniform regulations that may not account for the unique needs of Minnetrista’s communities, undermining the city’s ability to address HOA-related matters through local ordinances.

Is this a trend? We’ll have to see. You can read the whole thing here
